A shining example of the media in the USA
They say the 2004 presidential election wasn't even close, and the country is not divided.

I extend a  big, heartfelt thank you to whoever it is that is responsible for sending me NewsMax.com email.
They have renewed my conviction that those who listen to and/or read the majority of media in the United States can take none of the blame for not knowing what is really going on. I know I can look forward to some very entertaining email until they decide that they no longer want to send it to me. And that's what media is all about in this country anyway. Isn't it? It's entertainment, right? If we wanted just the facts we would... Hey, wait a minute what would we do if we wanted just the facts?

Well, wondering what I'm talking about? MSNBC is as entertaining as most and seemingly pretty honest and accurate, (But then so is NewsMax.com, right. I don't doubt for a minute that they believe what they write.) MSNBC said, on November 3, 2004, that the results of the presidential election 2004 show President Bush has won with a majority of the popular vote, 59,108,395 votes, and Senator Kerry has lost with 55,554,114 votes. Simple math says that the margin between them is 3,554,281. Less than half the number of people who live in New York City. That would be a lot in a New York City political contest. But less than 4 million across the entire USA isn't that much. Around 120 million votes were cast and the margin is less than a 4 million vote difference. That's a difference of just under 3%. One got 51% of the pie and the other got 48% of the pie. (The other less than 1% of the pie was the crumbs that fell off in the cutting and represents what went to Ralph Nader.) Unless you're a dedicated pie lover and it was a small pie, the difference between 51% and 48% is not even much to notice. For all intents and purposes, cut most pies like that and both parts would look like half. But fortunately in a political contest it is more than enough to easily determine who won. But it is not a mandate. About 2% short of half of the voters seem to be saying that they would have preferred the other guy to have won. And about 1% more than half of the voters seem to be saying that they are happy with who won.

But that doesn't stop NewsMax.com from saying that the election wasn't even close and the country isn't divided. If they can keep that up I'm going to love the entertainment that they can provide. Want to read that page where they said that? Here's the link - http://www.newsmax.com/adv/supportbush/.
